Dark Vocation
I walk these streets all alone at midnight, when no one's watching
I keep a blade, long and thin and white, stuck in my boot
I see a woman step out of a doorway and pull up her stocking
I see men start to follow the faces covered in soot
I keep the balance in the night, I hunger for the fight
I shiver with anticipation
The Moon, she watches every stride, she's keeping me alive
My singularly Dark Vocation
I hear the men call out to their victim, their voices mocking
The woman's eyes flash from side to side, she wants a different route
But before she can change her course, the alley's ended
They yell out 'Whore, better open this door, your debt will distribute'
I keep the balance in the night, I hunger for the fight
I shiver with anticipation
The Moon, she watches every stride, she's keeping me alive
My singularly Dark Vocation
Silently slid the knife from my boot under the first back rib cage
Turned in a flash and made a big slash in another's throat
Cut off the ear of a man who stepped near, and he yelled in outrage
Not 'til he fell, could fully tell I'd stabbed him through his coat
I keep the balance in the night, I hunger for the fight
I shiver with anticipation
The Moon, she watches every stride, she's keeping me alive
My singularly Dark Vocation
