There's nowhere I gotta be
I hop in the whip and I'm headed
Got some of the homies to ride with me
Shawty on side of me
Radio giving me headache I let it
It's just a vibe I know they having fun with it
Just a ride up the street we anonymous
Small town even smaller economy
Somehow I'm right where I wanna be
Despite any plight in my life at this moment I'm running things
Mentally physically spiritually
A beast with the beats among other things
Stop at the corner store cop a snack
My girl say she hungry I copy that
They say something funny up in the back
Now all of us rolling but someone patrolling and I didn't notice the stop sign
We just hit the corner he's pulling up on us I'm right where he want us I'm not fine
The lights flash and I contemplate
And as they were blinking I found myself thinking
Foot on the gas or foot on the brakes
Either decision could have repercussions
But I know gotta pull over
I know a lot of you know what this feeling is like
Forced to succumb to a power that's killing us right
Hoping this one ain't the villainous type
Holding a gun is the thrill of his life
Never be one with the people
He pulls out a flashlight checking the back like
I'm holding something illegal
He says let me some ID
Registration papers please,
I slowly pull out my ID
Hesitant in case he sees
Just cause
For killing a few niggas just cause
Last week it was two niggas just lost
But y'all know them shootings get brushed off
If the one getting shot up is us dawg
He came back from his vehicle
As he handed me back my ID
In that split second for some reason
It's almost as if I could see
Every feeling felt every moment past
Since he pulled off from the street
Several lights flashed and I blacked out
Then I left my body in the street
There's somewhere I gotta be
I hop in the whip and I'm headed
I'm always alone at the start of it
But I know how to be diligent stay at the ready
I'm ready
9 o'clock in the drop I'm coasting
Found the spot where this cop was ghosted
Same block where I gotta be posted
Tasked with finding the culprit
I pray to god and I'm hoping
Today ain't the same case
For my family I learned how to save face
But I swear on my life everyday is basically
Playing chase with this man's fate But I am grateful
To stand up and put evil bastards in handcuffs
I look up and notice a car run a stop sign
Not a big deal but his car look familiar
I start to accelerate from behind
The make of the car and the model revealed
I remark that it fits the description
Of the car of the killer I mentioned
Turn on my lights ain't no way that he missed it
He's making a right elevate my suspicion
Finally I saw him pull over
Should I get my weapon as I'm drawing closer
Check the back seat for the culprit
Don't know who they are and the driver not close to a match
Scanned his ID then I handed it back
Felt something happening after the fact
Felt every feeling he felt when he left from his home with his girl and his friends in the back
There's somewhere we gotta be
We looked at each other and understood
The level of fear in our livelihood's
It won't disappear overnight
But I got this feeling inside of me
He knows what it takes for that trust to grow
I see in his face he uncomfortable
With the realization these United States ain't united we want all the cops to go
So He'll have to do the impossible
Dig up the root underneath the floor
There's concrete laid on top of it
Hard to reach where we gotta be
United States but Divided Streets
I wrote this song as a cry for peace
Whether that's with or without police
Tryna make it through
Tryna
Just a nigga tryna make it through
Tryna make it through
Tryna
All my homies imma pray for you
Tryna make it through
Tryna
Just a nigga tryna make it through
Tryna make it through
Tryna
All my homies imma pray for you
Tryna make it through
Tryna make it through
Tryna make it through
Tryna
All my homies imma pray for you
