The Solitude
Navy blue, your eyes are on my mind
I never viewed
The solitude
As something to avoid until you left
The thoughts I hold
Close to the chest
For the most part, I'm unchanged
But there's some things that are terribly strange
Like, baby, when you're gone
The night's too quiet
Dinner table
It's one sided
Too many pillows
Too big a bed
Can't decide where to lay my head
There's no denying, I'm trying
Some things will never change
Sometimes the silence can be cruel
I wait alone
Hear the neighbors phone
Your keys are swinging on the rack
We're hanging here
'Til you get back
Moments alone uninterfered
Can be so sweet but it's awfully weird
When, baby, you're gone
The night's so quiet
Dinner table
It's lopsided
Too many pillows
Too big a bed
Can't decide where to lay my head
And when you're gone
My mind's divided
Every choice left undecided
I tend to linger
I drag my feet
Stillness is bittersweet
There's no denying I'm trying
Some things will never change
A fool, couldn't ask for more
I lost my cool, it's so easy to do
But, baby, when you're gone
The night's so quiet
Dinner table
It's one sided
Too many pillows
Too big a bed
Can't decide where to lay my head
And when you're gone
My mind's divided
Every choice left undecided
I tend to linger
I drag my feet
Stillness is bittersweet
There's no denying I'm trying
Some things will never change
Never change
