ChildHood Trauma

Angel Martinez

Yo, this my story
Ay, let's get this started
Yeah, kept it in the corner of my mind behind a bin
Tossed the other positive bullshit in the tin
Remember it started when I was ten
My pa never got along with my ma
He always said, one more drink, because no one cares about me
So fuck you all
I cared about him so when he didn't see it, I bawled
Before it was me, there was my sisters who were older and taller than I can see
So you know who I called when my dad went crazy and all
I wanted him to be my father figure, a male role model
So when he wasn't, my mind went full throttle
Growing around women ain't that different from a man
They all want the best for you as a band
But I knew what was best for me to be a man
As I grew older, the idea of a man was to be in a gang, do drugs
But anytime they mentioned that, I ran away
Because I knew it would increase the pain
But I'm good, not bad
Every person I know do bad shit just for them to be praised
But I know that's not how we was raised
Stealing and sex ain't the way
Make money selling candy at school but not laced
And if I did, I knew I would be traced
I knew these people were no better than me
Because I was raised to be a good person
I knew any of these things that they was doing as a team
But I ain't trying to be mean
I'd rather make money in this rap industry
Even though I'm new to the scene
That's okay because I will show this rap game
What we Mexicans can do in this black majority hip hop industry
But I ain't here to fight just for us to be a dream team,
Blacks and beans
