Antechamber

Brandon Peterson

So I came down, down to the city I said I'd never love
From an airplane in the sky way above
Two years ago I would say "I'm just fine the way I am"
Now the sun's out, and my wife's lookin' pretty as she dances about
How weird it rolls off the tongue to spurt that sentence out
There's a piece of the sky on my ring finger until I die
And the antechamber's filling up with hope
And the kingdom is on fire with our love
Maybe it's just screams from astral orbiter
At 2:30 in the morning in Futureworld

So I'd jot down all those silly old ideas I thought were so profound
They turned out to be nothing more than dirt mounds
In some landfill on the left side of my brain, never seen again
But there are a few things, I'm sure I made the right choice about in older days
From writing notes to you to singing in a crawl space
And those old songs may be outdated, but their meaning never changes, goes away
And the antechamber's filling up with hope
And the kingdom is on fire with our love
Maybe it's laughter from the hammock
When we spun right over, sand filled up your nose

It was just a taste of how we'll live our lives
We're given a window cracked open for a house fly
It was just a taste of how we'll have to say goodbye
And be selfish just this once, and head off into the blue sky
(And the antechamber's filling up with hope
And the kingdom is on fire with our love)
