Constellation

I looked up at the sky last night and saw a patch of stars
And I called them by your name
There's nothing new in Heaven, guess they've been there all along
It's only my perspective that's changed
The comets fly and the bodies fall and the clouds cover up the light
While you remain my constellation, hiding in plain sight

Somewhere on the other side of the sun and moon's great arc
Those stars fell under your gaze
You called each one in Latin with their scientific names
Just like you learned in your school hood days
You classify and catalogue each object in your telescope view
Unaware there's a constellation right in front of you
Yeah, look up, see the constellation that I named after you

Before they flicker out
Even though we know they burned out 'bout a million years ago

I can't find the horizon, I can't make my way at night
But I still see those pinpricks in the dark
Astronomy makes no sense to me, can't calculate the speed of light
But I know just how far apart we are
We revolve around each other's sound in a silent sea of space
You and I, a constellation falling into place
