Complacence
What did you have
An awful path
Your feet were flat on the pavement
Cuz turning back
Was turning black
But this was well before complacence
And well before
Your clothes were torn
You thought about who could save us
It hit you then
Upon the chin
And you were grinning with your braces
What did you say
It often plays
Back in my head but only kind of
It comes and goes
And only shows
When I take steps that you're not proud of
(that you're not proud of)
(that you're not proud of)
I'm not the one you want to have
The same habits and the same past
I'm not the one you want to be
At least that's one place we agree
(and we're not proud of)
(and we're not proud of)
