Red Cards

Oluwademilade Oyebanji

Now all over Nigeria
We're giving out red cards
Leaders who couldn't lead gravity to the ground
Our people couldn't make any demands
They said ENDSARS
Simple enough for anyone but a clown
I don't want to see you enter Aso Rock
You are trespassing
You're a traitor and a coward and an enemy
I'm no longer addressing you
Speaking to all my fellow citizens
Nigeria I really hope you're hearing me
Do not let me panic you
I've had to make an adjustment to my attitude
I understand that some of you are tired I ain't mad at you
You wanna give up on the country that abandoned you
And told you that all your cries for help were just ingratitude
Granted you did what the system said you had to do
Now you're hesitant to be considered as a radical
But listen carefully
There is coming a revolution
And if you ain't coming with
We won't come back for you
We can't afford to
Yenagoa to the capital and further North too
This is not about youth
This is about how well-equipped we are to see the truth
This is the diligence to make a plan and see it through
Make all the work we sow into the country come to fruit
They tell us that we sow in barren land but at the roots
A bunch of parasitic criminals are trying to loot
And we can we see the proof so what we have to do
Is grab hold of the wheel
I'm telling you that no matter how powerless you feel
We will we have to adamant we can't ever procrastinate
Say "I AM DRIVING - I do not care how you feel"
We're more equipped for the future than our country is
And so we have an obligation to our countrymen
To build a political party of the youth who are driven by the truth
It is only then that our country can
Open up the gates that keep the options limited
Establish public safety through autonomy
And I know like (pfft)
10 Chidera's with a good 10-year plan to recover our economy
It's hard to imagine
In a country where most of the college students
Are aiming toward a medical or law degree
We have so many issues with health and injustice in our courts
That nobody ever sees the future clear enough
So no matter how patient, brilliant, charismatic, resilient
People are in medicine and policy
Just to survive they'll spend every single day working jobs
Raising quality of life in North America
And that isn't their fault
That was done on purpose by the ogas at the top
Because our tradition says you listen to your Elders
And it doesn't matter if they give a damn 'bout us or not
What they can see sitting down right?
I'd like to inquire about that sound bite
Why would you be sitting down
When the mountain is on fire
And the kids are ill-equipped to put it out right
So they learn to breathe the fumes as they outcry
But of course you're sitting down
Your pockets probably so heavy from dollar naira pounds
Oh yeah that's why
You leave your people in darkness
You got a lot of properties outta state you leave often
You buy'em outta greased pockets
The youth are in police lockups
It's justice via deposit
You're just an echo of the colonizers
You run this country for profit
Put a politician in power
For promising policy
But the people who pay the piper
Are punished with poverty
Put the blame on the devil and praying for prophecy
But the devil is the dishonesty in our democracy
The time for casting out has come it's up to
Us the brave, intelligents my compatriots
We cannot back away we must stand up
We no dey carry last we land on top
