Cut and Dried

Brian Roy Goble

Another welfare day
And the result’s the same:
More dead lay in the street
But the game is played
With lives at stake
Rage is on full steam
‘Cause the war on drugs
And the street drug trade
Have users in a vice
With strength and grades
Roulette is played
And bodies are iced

The nation’s jails swell
In this manmade hell
And the cost of prisons soar
The need to kill and steal
To pay the man
Has dragged us all into war

Who says what drugs should and shouldn’t be legal?
This issue’s not cut and dried
Turn down your nose, call them lowlife
Get their just desserts, hope they die
Yeah!

It’s time to legalize
And to realize
This war’s a waste of time
And if you want to see
A less violent world
Let’s change our bottom line

Who says what drugs should and shouldn’t be legal?
This issue’s not cut and dried
Turn down your nose, call them lowlife
Get their just deserts, hope they die

Nobody
Deserves to
Be branded as a criminal because of an addiction
How would you
You like it
If they banned your cigarettes, your booze or your coffee?
You claim that
There’s freedom
I say that
You’re brainwashed
