42

Jan Juránek

True relief, false ambition
These are the things that come in
Hand in hand
When you've been tired for too long

And you've been searching for a way out
There is none that nature would permit
Not even your own instincts could do that
Not even in the darkest of night

Desperate and depressed poets rarely make headlines
We make cute and cohesive stories
The culture can recycle over and over
But in doing so it erases the meaning behind the work

I have been numbed to the feeling if anger or lust
For I've written them out of my life
This is only who I am now and who I'm learning to love
And it isn't easy and there are times I wish for demise

And yet the love still prevails
Somehow it keeps things from hurting too much or for too long
Though the world keeps the hurt coming quite often
There is this way by which you may escape

Consider love, consider joy
Consider letting flowers grow
For your dearest girl or boy
And when it gets high - it will get low

Keep that in mind and keep on going
You strong string in this spring quartet
I am awake and see the complications
And still my purpose is clear - Love.
