Being a Modern Being

Jan Juránek

Some might call me strange
Or be in an uproar by my humour
Some may hate my brasin soul
I cannot help this
This is the way I was born

And some may call me
At 2 AM - at two in the morning
Because they know
I will always pick up the phone
And sit with them

We should all stick to the second
Kind of person

Walking on eggshells around you
My serene serotonin waterlily queen
I am still in my body, shaking within

I am restless, sleeping like a lion
Or a koala bear
I can't concentrate, I can't read
I must move, move away

Change the bedding
Buy some fresh flowers
Vacuum and dust
Or something i don't know

Just, please, let me play my music
I can be still in body
But inside of it, there roam restless galaxies
Waiting to explode
While these neon orange pills make me want to implode

Forgive me, forgive me
I shall be still, a good worker
A good person, a good boy
I cannot rest even when asleep
And I cannot cry even if I weep

I have to start doing what's best for me
I just don't know what that is yet

I never knew until now
How much sorrow
There could be
In waiting for knowing
If there'll be another morrow

Today I live as though
I will never sing or dance again
Today is the day
That all my power has returned to me
And informed me of who I've always been
A vessel

Pearl grey eyes forever blue
Sunken, sad and tired
They call out for them

Oh, when all this darkness
Passes into morning
Oh how I wish to see
All the blue and green

The bluest skies ever
And the nicest shoreless land you've ever seen
The greenest grass that Earth could give us
That is all I ask for

As it passes - all of this
The last lakes will still remember us
As will the golden dandelions
Let us welcome them as well

This is where we are
Where we've begun and ended up
We did this to ourselves
We no longer have a normal state
A ruler, a measure or a commandment
We are fluid, free and we wear no labels
We are capable of anything, absurd abstract or real and robust
We come in peace, but with a hot vengence
For what you've done to our fragile youth
Our bodies are canvases
Our faces are broken masks
Free of any need to hide the truth
We are the truth
We are living in a liquid time
In solidarity

I am a toy
Broken on the inside
Forever unmendable
Aren't we all?

No. we are not all
Hard and metal and crude
Some of us, it is true
Are soft, kind and true

They say toys have more fun
If anyone ever tells you this, run

We all break and we all fix
Bandage and medication
Toys are always happy
Outside
