Money (Interlude)
[Spoken Word: Phanatik]
Money. Money, money, money, money. What is money? Is it just the way that she show one another what we think our time and talent is worth? If I do a good job, you'll give me a certain amount of... money? But what is money? Pretty green paper promises promising me that I'm worth something to somebody? But what if the presidents and governments standing behind those pretty little promises can no longer keep their word? What if the FDIC loses its credibility? Does that change my worth? Some people say it's not about the money. It's about the things that you can get with the money
I remember the time I traveled to a board meeting with some friends. One of them owned an island and he bought the rest of us out to this private island. I'll never forget what he told me. He said, "Sometimes I have to remind myself that I need God, 'cause when I look around at all the things that I have, it's hard to believe that I actually do." I immediately thought of Proverbs 30. [Agur?] prayed and he said, "God, don't give me poverty and don't give me riches. If you give me poverty, I might steal and make you look weak, but if you give me riches, I might forget you and say, 'Who is the Lord?'"
I know me. I don't need that kind of money. So instead of chasing paper, I choose to chase purpose and trust that my needs will be met. Instead of chasing paper, I choose to chase a person who will always keep His promises even when the men in the Mint can't keep the commitments they make
So yeah, you might see me stacking chips, but best believe I'm really not looking to cash out here...
