I just saw your friend and he told me
To forget your haircut and forget your shoes
He told me all the things I ought to forget
And I forgot them all except for you
Now in the corridor a light comes on where no light should be
And I hear you shout "Turn around"
And now the light goes out

I lick down the stamp with the tongue that used to say your name
When I know you heard
And I send another birthday card
And I remember how hard it is to write that word
On the corner by the red post box
