The Rivers Ran
I recall when the clouds began to fall
And the rivers ran as the mountains wept
And the clouds then tried to reclaim their battered pride
Cause they just wanted a friend up until the bitter end
Perched upon their keep, in the atmosphere they sleep
They couldn't help but cry
Then they began to realise
That the running and the weeping was all on them
I recollect the ancient vivisect
When the land was torn asunder underneath the crashing thunder
And the ocean felt betrayed because the land said he would stay
But he just had to move on, regardless of their bond
Perched upon a sphere, spinning endlessly through space
They couldn't help but cry
Then they began to realise
That the splitting and the shifting was all on them
I remember when the light was young and tender
He naively picked a rose and received the blackened prose
Cause the light just couldn't see
That the night would not agree
To dance upon the sphere until they disappear
Searching the abyss for an equilibrium
They couldn't help but cry
Then they began to realise
That the running and the weeping
That the splitting and the shifting
That the burning contradiction was all on them
