The Watchman on the Wall
On the shores of heartbreak I am the lighthouse keeper
Warning all who’d care to see
In the city named despair I’m the watchman on the wall
There will be no rest for me
The sun may rise in distant skies
But the roads I walk are bathed in shadows
You are not alone
There is a sword that hangs at your side
Grappling the unknown
There is a sword that hangs at your side
Though the years have flown
I am the hunter of the trackless wastes
A thousand years may come and go
I’ll serve the fates until they set me free
I’m the hunter of the haunted hills that some call desperation
I stalk bleak valleys, cheerless streams
Down lightless halls through dungeons deep in the castle men call madness
I track the beast that feeds on dreams
The sun may rise in distant skies
But the roads I walk are bathed in shadows
If you lose your way there is a sword that hangs at your side
Bow your head and pray
There is a sword that hangs at your side
Night will turn to day
Dark planets roll through the darkened void
That chaos claimed in deadly war, but can claim no more
One man, one sword
Against the hoard of devils, fiends and dark lords
What choice do I have?
My course is set, the way is clear before me
I can see you clearly
Then it’s like a dream because you always fade away
Almost had you, nearly
Guess I just got sidetracked and now I’m waiting on some
Distant day
They say you’re not even real
But what do they know
You’re living inside of my heart
This life may never reveal you to me
But one day I’ll pass your way
Why must there be evil men
Strike them down, they come again
Think they’re dead but then my friend
That’s the way of this world
This wicked world must surely pass away
But that’s the world wherein I found a sea where sorrows could be drowned
There I heard that distant sound of trumpets blown in the morning
Carried on a breeze from unknown shores
There will come a day the sword will rise
All will be revealed right before our eyes
I’ll search for her in the lonely void until the end of days
Lonely void, empty void
On the frozen desolation, on the plain men call dismay
Don’t look for any sign of me
This road is all my own, the dream I seek is mine
I’m the loneliest of men you see
There will be no rest for me
Find hope in the morning
Even in the dark of night
