Shiloh Chandra
My name is Shiloh Chandra and there's moonlight in my blood
I've bathed in pools of- and blossom with the buds
I loved a man who died at war but didn't leave a will
So I'm headed south tomorrow on the route to Bougainville
Well now I'm off reciting the address of Jack Marquez
To a cab driver with rosaries and then he softly says
That Jack left with a woman on the first morning of Lent
They hitched a ride right out of town and didn't pay a cent
And he sang ah
Ah
The gypsies pin carnations to the pockets of their coats
And hand me scraps of paper scrawled with poems that they wrotе
While travelling the country ovеr bridges to the sea
Adorned with feathered necklaces and handmade machetes
And they sang ah
Ah
I tried to get my doctorate but couldn't bear the weight
Instead I picked dropped strawberries in the fields till it got late
And drank with all the workers who had lost and found their way
I made a toast to stars above and thanked them for our days
And we sang ah
Ah
And we sang ah
Ah
