Spent All My Time

You search and you search but can't find your way home
You run and you swim but you sink like a stone
You work toward a goal you don't even understand
But you put your head down and work your hands to the bone

Well, I spent all my time seeking money to accrue
But I spent every dime on things I thought I needed to
I spent all my time with so very much to prove
And I wrote every rhyme in search of a different point of view

You try to make sense of the path behind
You dream of the future and the things you may find
Your mind spins in circles with your head in the clouds
Your heart rolls on empty while your mouth sings aloud

Well, I spent all my time trying to push on through
But every mountain I climbed seemed too high for me to do
I spent all my time looking for ways to improve
And I wrote every rhyme in search of a pure and simple truth
