The Thing

Charles Grean

As I was on my way to school, walking down the street, I saw a funny looking box, laying at my feet; I picked it up and open it and much to my surprise oh I discovered that right before my eyes (I discovered that right before my eyes); I took the looky into glass, I thought I'd have some fun, but when the kids all saw it they began to run; the teacher took one look at it hollared outyou fool! Get out of here with that and don't come back to school (get out of here with that and don't come back to school); I hung around the play ground until the sun went down and, then, I took it home to pa, but this is what he hollared me, as I walked in the door; get out of here with that and don't come back no more (get out of here with that and don't come back no more); I wandered all around the town, until I chanced to meet a hobo who was looking for a handout up street; he said he'd take most any old thing he was a desperate man; but, when I showed him, he turned around and ran (but, when I showed him, he turned around and ran); I wandered around dor many year a victum of my fate, until one day a chance to meet saint peter at the gate; but, when I try to take it inside, he told me where to go; get out of here with that and take it down below (get out of here with that and take it down below); the moral of the story, if you should ever find a funny looking little box, don't pay it any mind; don't ever stop to pick it up, that's my aadvice to you, 'cause you'll never get rid of that, no matter what you do! ('cause you'll never get rid of that, no matter what you do!)
