Afterglow
Old oak trees
Sway in the breeze
Wild flowers
Turning to seed
Late summer light
The golden corner stone
Fading on the day
And it's time
To go home
Why does
Everything good
Come to an end?
I'm always left
Watching the rear-view mirror as the road bends
Away from the beautiful places
And the people that I've met
Time carries them far away
As I look to
Another sunset
Like the sweetest lullaby
Our voices drift into the sky
As the birds fly overhead
As fleeting as the words we said
Suddenly the chill sets in
Now the bittersweet begins
Shadows creep across the lawn
It's the calm before the storm
Why does
Everything good
Come to an end?
I'm always left
Watching the rear-view mirror as the road bends
Away from the beautiful places
And the people that I've met
Time carries them far away
As I look to
Another sunset
All the trees must lose their leaves
The winter must stay cold
And the waters will freeze
Breathing this fall
Till darkness receded
And the rivers start to flow
Life shimmers in
The afterglow
Why does
Everything good
Come to an end?
I'm always left
Watching the rear-view mirror as the road bends
Away from the beautiful places
And the people that I've met
Time carries them far away
As I look to
Another sunset
Shimmer in the afterglow
Shimmer in the afterglow
Shimmer in the afterglow
