Dreaming

CARLOS LEAL

Once upon a time, a kid had a dream
No matter all the problems, faith he would see
No matter all the work, it's the worth he would think
The value of it all, the sweat he would need
Just to push, to promote, to record, to provoke
To endure from below, so he could make it to a show
Whether hot, whether cold, whether sticking to a note
Whether playing certain chords, just to have a decent flow
To the lyrics on the phone, to the rhythm in the beat
Building his recording studio, 100 each week
Trying to work every morning so 100 he could bring
Just to build up his work, and nobody wants to see
It's a joke for so many simply because he's a rapper
His homeboy working with him because the vision he captured
Ignoring all the hatred, the mockery and laughter
The two work together to live happily ever after

Through the thick and thin, whether hot and cold
Through day or the night, through the dark of the storm
You're One step close, so you don't let go
You're One step close, so you don't let go
Keep dreaming
Gotta keep dreaming

He never really thought that a song could release
So much love and potential, enough for one to see
One CD, one song, one voice, one beat
One synth, one snare, one drum, one thing
That he grabbed is the fact that he never had departed
Since 2009, the year when he started
But ever since then, he felt his heart hardened
By the circumstance of life, so he kept his heart guarded
Tried to play it tough, so he starting making songs
For the gang he was committed to, didn't last long
For his mind to be corrupted and his ways being wrong
Hiding all the tears that he shed up be strong
Almost getting jumped in, slanging with the gang
Tryna beef with other people for dissing on what he banged
Almost committed suicide, twice to be exact
All because his dad was gone and his mind wasn't in tact

Through the thick and thin, whether hot and cold
Through day or the night, through the dark of the storm
You're One step close, so you don't let go
You're One step close, so you don't let go
Keep dreaming
Gotta keep dreaming

So much that the kid had gone through for his age
To the point where no longer he wanted to stay
On this earth, for his life he wanted to go away
From all of the drama he had to that day
But then one day, he had the urge to fight
With the God of the heavens bout the purpose of his life
""If you really are real, then show me who You are""
""I'm tired out of this hatred I have inside my heart""
But on that day, inside a little building
He felt something coming from the top of the ceiling
So overwhelming, fuzzy warm feeling
He had an encounter with Jesus and got healing
No more pain, no more tears
No more anger, no more fear
Eyes wide open, mind's so clear
Truly understood that Jesus Christ was near
If you still didn't know, I'm the kid in the story
There's so much to explain but for the sake of recording
I gotta move on, cuz the story keeps going
I gotta keep the faith cuz I know I'll have the glory
One last thing that I have to explain
All the music that I make is for the sake of His name
I'll never be the same, and now I really see
He gave me the tools so I could reach my dream

Through the thick and thin, whether hot and cold
Through day or the night, through the dark of the storm
You're One step close, so you don't let go
You're One step close, so you don't let go
Keep dreaming
Gotta keep dreaming
