Superiority
What makes a place your home; is it where you grow up? Or could it be
The place you love the dearest, you'd never stay away 'cause it's lovely
Such a contrast to the places you don't care for, where all you want to do is flee
But it seems you get stuck there, sitting, staring at a wall, the whole time wishing you could be
Sitting here at Lake Superior, not caring where you go tonight
Any place will be inferior, 'cause this place is so right
So you come home for a visit, try to cram in all these things that you wanna do
Places to go, sights to see, people to talk to; familiar but still it seems so new
Things have changed, landmarks have gone missing; friends have moved away, it's true
They tore down the last old oredock, but at least you can see the lake and it's still blue
Sitting here at Lake Superior, not caring where you go tonight
Any place will be inferior, 'cause this place is so right
It's a little cold for swimming but still many do. I would
If I could but I can't now, I'm not here anymore. I should
Move on home to that city by the lake, at least for a little while; that'd be good
Life away is only okay for a minute but the whole time I'm thinking: I could be
Sitting here at Lake Superior, not caring where you go tonight
Any place will be inferior, 'cause this place is so right
