Haunt of You

I see her by the frozen pond near the town
Her hands are pressed upon her face of the winter snow
"I've waited here forever," she whispers through the trees
"Why have you taken so long?"

She still has on her wedding dress, her emerald caul
I still have on my scalloped vest from years ago
"I've waited here forever," I whisper in her ear
"You needed only to turn around"

She turns to me, her shadowed face of a sullen ghost
She shakes her hair into her face, I've missed her so
"I've waited here forever," she says once again
"I've had no thoughts except for thoughts of you"

"I've worn a veil upon my face," I reply
"In this veil, all I saw was the haunt of you"
"I've waited here forever for the haunt of you"

She lifts her hair from her face, oh so slowly
Then puts foot in front of foot, she's walking toward me

Her arms are a holy place, so I hide inside them
"Oh, I've waited here forever for the haunt of you
Now I'll stay here forever with the haunt of you"
