Learn and Become

Mark Turner

Sometimes the air gets heavy
When we both enter the room
And the people don't know while we argue the song
Doing a dance in our heads
And at one point we both thought we had it alright
One day it all changed and set it alight
What we both thought didn't mean much at all
The walls of our castle did tumble and fall
I can't change what I've done
I will learn and become
Better for all my mistakes
Although its too little too late
We both started a plan
Our own world far from this land
And I'm sorry you never will see
The place that it could have been
The lines get blurred when you spend each day
Trying to get to the next
Not something you asked for but something you got
No love can't be used like a toy
And so you set boundaries to keep things apart
But each day gets harder when holding your heart
You try to pretend with no need to defend
All of the secrets we kept
I can't change what I've done
I will learn and become
Better for all my mistakes
Although its too little too late
We both started a plan
Our own world far from this land
And I'm sorry you never will see
The place that it could have been
The sad part of all is all that we've lost
And the things that we'll never regain
Be careful when treading the delicate path
Cause a heart cannot simply defend
And as time ticks on and the memories fade
It's hard to remember what we first tried to save
Was it for better or was it for worse
I guess now nobody will know
I can't change what I've done
I will learn and become
Better for all my mistakes
Although its too little too late
We both started a plan
Our own world far from this land
And I'm sorry you never will see
The man that I could have been
