The Events at Dusk

Ryan Webb

A high and lonesome sound
Comes in to lay you down
You crawl below within
The pines are whispering
Behold the wilderness
Where men get lost and press
Their luck in hopelessness
Come on, get up get dressed

High atop some ferris wheel
Sat to watch the autumn peel
Yet again a gloaming sky
If there's shadow there is light
Smokestacks along the coast
Drop dark like frozen ropes
People got something in their throats
You don't say, you'll never know

Blue silver is the sea
There is salt inside of me
I have felt the world begin
Over and over again
Over and over again

Rubbed a dime with my thumb
Pined and pried and wished you'd come
The dime slipped and then i lunged
Thought to laugh but it wasn't fun
Fell floating overground
Swans dive through broken clouds
Did the quiet get so loud?
I see you there, i see you now
Put slow my hand in yours
Thought quick, not anymore
Nature always wins the war
Now what are wars for?

Blue silver is the sea
We alone made adam and eve
I have felt the world begin
Over and over again
Over and over again
Over and over again
Over and over again
