I lie awake tonight
Seems there’s some rearranging to be done
Putting thoughts in to tangled heaps
With no hope of ever making sense of it

Too busy hating on myself
Too often something
There are jobs and kids and bills to pay
I want you more than ever
And I don’t know what that means

To exhort
Desirous
Advancer
Thereof

Between you and me
I’m just not brave enough
There’s a million miles
I’m afraid to even try
There are a thousand memories
This secret you must keep
We’ve built this wall brick by brick

I understand it all now
Though to put it in word would be an act of futility
You wouldn’t like it anyway
Some realizations prove terminal

Perhaps it’s not worth saying
The thought came and did it’s damage all the same
Maybe it’s a kindness keeping it to myself?
