Like a Splendour in the Grass
LIKE A SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS
What a gorgeous day!
And the clear blue sky is promising this beauty’s goin’ to last.
But maybe today there, on the other side
Someone close to me is gonna die
While we’re running here on ‘n’ on so fast…
Thousands of lunatics along the borderlines,
Millions of innocent victims of their madness.
In that forgotten land where wisdom no longer shines
Earth cannot cry enough to cry out all of its sadness.
That’s why I’m asking you to help us to make it through invisible night.
Scream out loud!
Then stand up proud!
Do as much as you can –
But do it right!
Thou I’m far away and I’m trying to make
Only one more song out of a billion…
There’s no proper way to express the heartache,
It needs much more words than I know,
More than a zillion!
So those verses I’ll use a poet once made
Though I really feel as if by myself I wrote them
It must have happened long ago,
During my previous lives
But they are now my shield as well as my totem:
“Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind!”
That’s why I’m asking you…
