Who am I now
The man I used to be
Would be ashamed of me
Fingertips sliced on these strings
A heart that’s too knowing to sing
A temper
That’s been whittled
Into a blade
It’s one of those nights where I drink
To make everything
Warmer again

That I’ve ever made
Where is the moon
The only source of light
In this god forsaken night

The honest things are never true
Lied to too many times
By words that always seem to be mine
Sleeping outside
Wondering why
The moon always seems to be new

Awake on the floor
Yearning for more
It’s one of those nights where I say
The lies to myself
That this isn’t Hell
So I try and I try to appeal
To the better nature
Of an apathetic God
Up above
But it seems
That my intoxicated prayers are
Just a pathetic
Parody of love
What have I become
