Equinox

Jake Stillman, Paul Oneto

Here sits declining youth,
Locked inside of my own tomb.
Nothing left but who I was,
Promises of what becomes.

And as I sit and count the stars,
Well, I see mine but don’t see ours.
Forever I wonder why.
It’s just the way you say goodbye.

Nothing more for me.
I’ve had my fears,
I’ve had my doubts and,
Now I want to breathe.

With every breeze that blows my mind,
Like a leaf I’m flowing by.
Over pools of all my doubts,
I share my sorrows with the crowds.
I’ll speak it only with my eyes.
All my gratitude is lies.

Nevermore for me.
I’ve held my fears,
I’ve quelled my doubts and,
Now I want to be.

If leaves can die to be reborn,
Every year with no remorse,
Then so, too, I can find myself,
In newer skin I’ve never felt.
But try as much as I may try,
I’ll never fill those empty skies.

So tell me what we’re worth.
Tell me what we were.
Tell me those stars burn.
Tell me you’ll return.
