La La La

Paul A McHugh

The lights dim on empty chairs
And screams from an empty stage
The show's over once again
The wheels role on frozen asphalt
And the tunes are fired up once again
The moon halfway shines over graying skies
And lightening flashes in the distance
The change come slowly like seasons unfolding
But the weariness stays within

La La La,

She pulls down the shades
And gathers all her clothes
Bound to repeat the same ol scene
Such a glorious ending, so unlike the real thing
Which lingers on and on and on
How can we depict that which is mundane
And erodes like wind on a rock
Day by day, hour by hour
Sanding you down to nothing

La La La,

A forgotten queen crying in the dark
Her lineage seems to be ending
She cant comprehend life without tears
And dust gathering on memories
The road gets straight and narrow
The winding curves go nowhere
The last thing she heard
Before she flipped the switch
Was flies buzzing in the distance
Not even a goodbye.
