Any Other Way

HippolytaCMPaulusma

There's a thousand lives that I could now be leading,
and a thousand different ways that I could find to feel the same.
I could be a cloistered nun, a cosmic yoga teacher,
or a shrink who only helps because it helps to be insane.

But it's hard to sing a tender tune that you are half-remembering,
when the radio is blaring out the big hit of the day
That's life, that's life and
I wouldn't have it any other way.

Maybe I could be a moon-walk-talking astronaut,
umbilicalled to oxygen, in case I float away.
But then I don't suppose I ever would have met you,
would have travelled up the escalator facing the wrong way.

And it's hard to think about a face that you have half-forgotten
when this great big smile is grinning as I clear the plates away
That's life, that's life and
I wouldn't have it any other way.

And it scares me to think how close I came
to never having met you.
Now you know you won't fall so very far,
cause I'm never gonna let you down.

There's a thousand things that I could now be buying
and a thousand different ways to soothe this existential pain.
There's a thousand destinations I'd be flying to,
all I have to do is hop on board that ever-waiting plane...

But all these empty promises that dress up like solutions,
From all these substitutions, I choose you and you again...
That's life, that's life and
I wouldn't have it any other way.
