A Really Long Year
Yeah, it's been a really long year
Flew to Oklahoma
That's where he got down on one knee
When I told my mom she was in tears
The day we pulled out her wedding gown
She hadn't looked at it in 40 years
And I, I watched her reminisce for awhile
Just 19 and walking down the aisle
Yeah, it's been a really long year
Made new friends in Kansas
Watched my grandpa be an auctioneer
Brother made that farm look like a dream
The marching band played in the parade
And all the bridesmaids in the trolley waved
And I, I watched their faces for some time
And somewhere over that rainbow was my life
Somewhere over the rainbow
Over the rainbow skies will be blue
Somewhere over the rainbow
Over the rainbow dreams do come true
Yeah, it's been a really long year
Laura had a baby boy while I was traveling in Germany
Mother lost her friend in summertime
Before she went to be with the Lord
She told my brother she'd find him a wife
And I, when I heard that story how I cried
'Cause I could hear the longing in his voice
I could see the hope in his eyes
Yeah, I could see him dancing with his bride
Yeah, it's been a really long year
Never thought that I would see the day
I'd dance with grandpa on my wedding day
