Blue Jay
Sifting through leaves and I think I found my favorite
Pressed it down in a book so I'll never forget
Ghosts take hold of the wind
Take me places that I haven't been in years
Take my fears, let them go
Oh I don't want to be your ghost
If I dream of you would you think of me?
The way I believed at fourteen
Superstition proved to be crippling
Not knowing is its own relief
But whatever I do
My thoughts lead me back to you and the joys of naïveté
Maybe I'll make it back someday
Blue Jay
Oh, brilliance is borderline emptiness
When it comes to our past we see nothing but good
But the future we need isn't only a fearful uncertainty
Take my fears, make me bold
I don't want you to be my ghost
If I dream of you would you think of me the way I believed at fifteen
Superstition proved to be crippling
Not knowing is its own relief
But whatever I do
My thoughts lead me back to you and the joys of naïveté
Maybe I'll make it back someday
Blue Jay
Knowing all that could be and not be
Brings me to only memories
Or don't you agree?
Oh, the energy just seems to cripple me
If we open our eyes, though, we might finally see
Even at 32 degrees you just may find relief at a warming sun
If I dream of you would you think of me
The way I believed at sixteen
Superstition proved to be crippling
Not knowing is its own relief
But whatever I do
My thoughts lead me back to you and the joys of naïveté
Maybe I'll make it back someday
