Emptiness

Sander Meijer

I thought I had seen a beacon, bright
Realised too late it was a warning sign
It had served as my guide
I got so far, I couldn't turn the tide

Now this is where I begin to forget, and now I regret
How could I have been so wrong for so long?

And so, I wrote it all out
All these guitars, electronics, and thoughts about you
If I had one wish I'd use it to try again
And replace the emptiness

Now what did I miss?
Did I skip a few chapters?
Or did I somehow miss the news?

Because every time I think I have it figured out
It always seems to be the other way around
You don't have to tell me everything
But at least tell me something

And so, I wrote it all out
All these guitars, electronics, and thoughts about you
If I had one wish I'd use it to try again
And replace the emptiness

And sometimes you realise that all the things you want
All the things you think you need
Are meaningless
When you feel the need to say
I wish you'd been here with me today

And so, I wrote it all out
All these guitars, electronics, and thoughts about you
If I had one wish I'd use it to try again
And replace the emptiness

Wrote it all out
Thoughts about you
