Little Conversations
Jumping on the telephone
Maybe I could come around now
Waiting for the train alone
Think I coulda walked it by now
Tucked into my overcoat
Found the pretty joke you wrote out
When you talk to me in undertones
Are you taunting me?
I’m gonna eat my hesitation
While it’s hard as a peach
Does it cheap infatuation
While I’m balling my sheets
And in these little conversations
While she’s brushing her teeth
On the toilet
Tell I’m a babyface
What about the love we made lately
I’ve been singing since the 2nd grade
Never found a way to say it
Maybe if we stay awake
We can sleep it off a day later
I’ll leave you with my laziness
Back into my arms you’ll be sauntering
I’m gonna eat my reputation
While it’s soft as a peach
Cuz when I cross the bar to face him
I’ll be falling asleep
Amid these little conversations
While she’s brushing her teeth
On the toilet
