Tides of Life

Sacha Karam

I search for chaos in peace itself,
I search for balance in broken shells,
I search for vile heavens in the enlightened hells,
What is my purpose if not to question this realm
That I've been trying to perceive for decades
And really, I'm getting overwhelmed
I have nothing to prove to anyone but my will,
By my actions should people see that I'm ill
Yet with no intent to let myself drown
In the gaze of the abyss
Been staring at it for years, now I own
It completely, my cape made of the ashes bliss,
I got from scars in my short experience
Yet quite condensed perception of life
And I'm no soothsayer but I've predicted my rise
And now nothing can stop these tides
As I speak I'm cutting ties
With my own lies
Those voices repeating negations
Yeah these waves I'm creating by sheer will
The result of my seclusion is coming to fruition
These lines will be the foundations
Of the never ending thrill hidden in my quill
And yet rhetorical speeches leave you speechless,
When you knew deep down the answer to your own thesis,
You have every right to be fierce,
I'm sure no one ever knew what kind of battles
You were having, fighting your inner riddles
Going up against your own scribbles
Life's too short to be afraid to take decisions,
It sometimes is about risking everything for a dream that no one can see but you
So please
Go ask your boss for that raise
Go ask your crush out on a date
Go and be bold don't wait
The true beauty of a dying world is to awake your very own ambition,
Meet your derelictions with blazing defiance,
Infernal gaze piercing the veil of reality,
Beyond the realm of theory,
Way past these mountains is the essence,
Of what I consider to be the key to happiness - hence
Why I'm sick of myself and I need some change
Listen to your wild heart's distress
Don't let your clouded brain play puppets
You're better off living with no regrets
They pile up till you're buried
Under 6ft deep of concrete
Throughout your ambitions, stay true to your aspirations.
That record almost didn't make it because of it
What a pity it'd be, if I already quit
If I hadn't even started, so take a seat,
And take a sip of my music,
Cause that's only a snippet,
Of what's coming next
Better grab your ticket,
Cause we're going on a hell of a ride on the waters of the Styx
The creation in which contradiction finds its use
The bitterly cold stream that makes phoenixes amused
The river in which chaos rules and tides become my muse
And in the red horizon that we thought to be read
Like a book open up on the sea, open up and see
My philosophy that I've been bottling up since
The beginning of this journey
