Rock’N’Roll City

Trond Holter, Ole Evenrude

This is a true story

I was drivin' down the highway
Through a desert in the middle of the night
When out of nowhere came bright city lights
I searched a man, but couldn't find him
Still I swore I had this city in sight
And it gave me the creeps, something here was right, no

I met this crazy guy by a crashed limousine
And asked where the hell I was
But when I saw his face, I lost my breath
It was Keith Moon and, man, it scared me to death

He said, "Welcome to Rock'n'Roll City!
Everybody here is a star
Yeah! Welcome to Rock'n'Roll City!"
Everybody drives a flashy car
Down in Rock'n'Roll City

Well, I drove on down the main street
I felt so shaky, had to park the car
Man, I needed a drink, so I searched out a bar
Well, inside I saw these people
They were all dead Rock'n'Roll stars
I saw John Lennon was there, leaning 'gainst the bar
And there was a band on stage

There was Cochrane, Bolan, Joplin and Ed
Buddy Holly and Jim Morrison
And there'll be said one thing, before he'll sing
"Hey folks, you know I'm still a king"

He said: "Welcome to Rock'n'Roll City!
Everybody here is a star
Yeah! Welcome to Rock'n'Roll City!"
Brian Jones and Hendrix plays guitar
In Rock'n'Roll City

I woke up next morning, with my head against the wheel
I had been dreaming it all
It didn't happen for real

But I'm sure those guys are jamming somewhere
And, man, I wish that I could be there

I wanna go to Rock'n'Roll City
Where everybody is a star
Yeah! Go to Rock'n'Roll City
An jam here with boys in the bar
I wanna go to Rock'n'Roll City
Get my kicks and play some guitar
I wanna go to Rock'n'Roll City
Gonna get myself a flashy car
Down in Rock'n'Roll City
Yeah
