Cosmic Rain

Jackson Baum, Tempest Baum

The clouds circle above
Like an animal in pain
I look up at the sky
And my face feels drops of rain
The world disappears
And I feel myself collapse
The rain does not fall from the clouds because
The clouds are gone, it falls perhaps
From the stars
From the moon and the sun,
From the planets spread out across the universe
From the cosmos above the Earth
I can feel the cosmic rain
Pouring down on us
Carrying specs of cosmic dust
Someone from above crying tears of cosmic rain
A gift from Andromeda
Our flesh absorbs every drop
For though we know not what it does,
Nor if it causes us harm
We will stand beneath the sky for an eternity
Until the rain stops
We’re frozen in a moment
All time stands still
The human race has lost
All our sense of free will
The stars have taken over
They’ve silenced our brains
The cosmos now control us
With a downpour
Of cosmic rain
Pouring down on us
Carrying specs of cosmic dust
Someone from above crying tears of cosmic rain
