Rubber Veins
Pouring rain all around me
I can barely see, see through the foggy lens
Slowly, the axle spins
The motor beings to falter and flutter
I skid to a halt
I always seem to stall before I ever start
Driving home, I can barely feel you
Hold you in my arms filled with rubber veins
Blood from my heart, it won't stain
I call your name
Suddenly, I stumble and slip through your hands
I always seem to fall before I ever stand
Scalding water brings me to my senses
I begin to wake, wake in a stream full of steam
Slowly the wheels start to turn, how my skin burns
When will I learn
Lectures and books can't discern
I always seem to fail before I ever learn
Tires make rubbery amends with the pavement
Feet can't be forced by persuasion, only sense
