Tectonic Plates

Jack Drewry, Jesse Meadows

The planet Earth we live on has a boiling soupy core
But the surface is cool - it's a solid crusty floor
It's just like an apple and we're living on the skin
There's so much underneath, cos the crust is really thin
The crust is made of pieces, like a giant puzzle game
Floating slowly side to side, let's give them a name
Tectonic Plates. Huh
Always moving around
Tectonic Plates. Huh
Giant pieces of ground
Where they push together
And they pull apart
The ground erupts and shakes
Volcanoes and Earthquakes
So when tectonic plates come together
all sorts of things can happen
Yes! They can get pushed down to create valleys and
Underwater trenches. They can get pushed up
To create mountains and volcanoes and they
Can get pulled apart to create seas and lakes
This has been happening for hundreds of millions of years
Wow
The magma underneath us is liquid molten rock
We change it's name to lava when it's pushed to the volcano's top
Erupting steam and ash can be seen from miles around
The lava flows and cools to make a volcanic rocky ground
The ash has soil nutrients, which is good for growing plants
Now let's get this party started and do the volcano dance
The ground is moving slower than a snail
Not much faster than a fingernail
The crust is made of pieces, like a giant puzzle game
Floating slowly side to side, let's give them a name.
Tectonic Plates. Huh
Always moving around
Tectonic Plates. Huh
Giant pieces of ground
Where they push together
And they pull apart
The ground erupts and shakes
Volcanoes and Earthquakes
Volcanoes and Earthquakes
The ground erupts and shakes
Volcanoes and Earthquakes
The ground erupts and shakes
Volcanoes and Earthquakes
The ground erupts
And shakes
