Shadrack

Bob MacGimsey

[Intro]
Here's the story thousands of years old
About three brothers who stood up for what they believed in
And found out God was on their side
And their names were Shadrack, Meshach and Abednego

[Verse 1]
Well, there were three children in the land of Israel
(Shadrack, Meshach, Abednego)
Took a little trip into the land of Babylon
(Shadrack, Meshach, Abednego)
Nebuchadnezzer was the king of Babylon
(Shadrack, Meshach, Abednego)
And he took a lot of gold, and hе made him an idol
(Shadrack, Meshach, Abednеgo)

[Bridge]
He told everybody, "When you hear the music of the cornet"
Told everybody, "When you hear the music of the flute"
Told everybody, "When you hear the music of the horn"

[Verse 2]
Pray to God, says you gotta bow down and worship the idol"
(Shadrack, Meshach, Abednego)
But the children of Israel would not bow down
(Shadrack, Meshach, Abednego)
'Cause he couldn’t fool them with the golden idol
(Shadrack, Meshach, Abednego)
I said you couldn’t fool them with the golden idol
(Shadrack, Meshach, Abednego)

[Verse 3]
So, the king put the children in the fiery furnace
(Shadrack, Meshach, Abednego)
And he heaped on coal and red-hot brimstone
(Shadrack, Meshach, Abednego)
He made it seven times hotter, hotter than it oughta be
(Shadrack, Meshach, Abednego)
Even burned up the soldiers the king had put there
(Shadrack, Meshach, Abednego)

[Bridge]
And the Lord God sent them an angel
And he had him a couple of wings
And he went on down to the middle of the furnace
And began to cool down the flames

[Verse 4]
Well, the children were so happy
They went strutting through the fire
Just laughing, talking 'bout the power of the Gospel
(Shadrack, Meshach, Abednego)
(Shadrack, Meshach, Abednego)

[Verse 5]
Well, Nebuchadnezzer said "Hey, there"
When he saw the power of the Lord
(And they had a big time in the land of Babylon)
(Shadrack, Meshach, Abednego)
(Shadrack, Meshach, Abednego)
(Shadrack, Meshach, Abednego)

[Outro]
Shadrack
Meschach
Abednego
