woke up in your bed
when you turned me around
said the schools were closed
locked me in your house
christening that place as a hallowed ground
seemed so silly then
but it's obvious now
pull the covers off
put your snow pants on
roll a cigarette
run into the yard
with my lenses out and the snow coming down
it wasn't so clear then
but it's obvious now
near a year to that day
still falling hard
crawling from your house
with my head in my arms
i'd heard what you did but you spelled it out
and it hurt me then
and it hurts me now
woke up in my bed
in a different state
then you moved next door
couldn't get away
i was two years younger
now we're 9 years out
seemed so obvious then
things get complicated
take a lot of explaining
and little by little
it's less obvious now
