Daniel Bierton, Thomas Blown

The night that made a nation weep
Flames were creeping up the cladding
Inferno burning in their sleep
The night we were saddened

By fire and sirens, they hadn't
Packed their bags for heaven
Quite unawares of what was to come
Before the sun would rise over Peckham
The stair exits would be blocked
As they tried to run

Bumbling in error
Stumbling around terror
Why will we never learn?
At the end of my tether
Don't know whether
We will ever learn
Bumbling in error
Stumbling around terror
Why will we never learn?
At the end of my tether
Don't know whether
We will ever learn

The way Grenfell tower scandal
Was handled, fills me with disgust
It was discussed at length
And were told to hold a vigil
Or light a candle instead
But standards have not been met
I'm afraid people are dead
Because of savages mismanaging
Where people lay their heads down at night in bed
They don't imagine waking up to a blaze in the middle of the night
I cant fathom why the following day was out of sight for these people
But I'm a try
All this evil makes me wanna cry
Their fate was written in the stars
There's no guardian angels looking out for them
Systems in place to ensure they're silenced
The voiceless men and women
Tenancy committees can only go so far
In these cities run by Russian oligarchs
These people are human
But treated like statistics on graphs
They are the British underclass
The social vermin
But something is stirring
Too long they been in the dark
We were never appalled at the inevitable burning
Until it happened
Is this their hour?
Did the victims of the tower disaster ever even matter?

Bumbling in error
Stumbling around terror
Why will we never learn?
At the end of my tether
Don't know whether
We will ever learn
Bumbling in error
Stumbling around terror
Why will we never learn?
At the end of my tether
Don't know whether
We will ever learn

The caricatures of those found in the tower
Are not benefit-scrounging layabouts
They just have no power
It's astounding
I mean, hang about
The caricatures of those found in the tower
Are not benefit-scrounging layabouts
They just have no power
It's astounding
I mean, hang about

Government will have them stoop forever
Rock bottom level zero
But they're glued together
Like two hipsters at Caffè Nero
More and more gonna be aware the Tories are on Murdoch's pay roll
Seeking glory but their regime is fatal
