Ashes Of Empedocles

Harrison Deacon

These flowers on my grave
They twist and wilt away
Soaked up in the grey rain
This isn't what I want
But this is what I'll do
Feel it in my palms
See it with my eyes closed
Like my life is slipping
Away from me today

These petals on my tomb
Remind me of the gloom
I love all these colours
But I make ashes bloom
With anything I do
When that sadness kicks in
And you're lying on your side
And you can't stop sobbing

Spiralling down again
Into the abyss I go
This world has failed me
Like how I fail you

Shattered fragments of my mind
Sparkle on the inside
The floor of my skull
Left there for time
Pick up the pieces
And stare into my face
I'm so sorry

It felt like all the blood in my body
Was flowing in the wrong direction
