A crowd of people in the way
Standing still with rhythmic sway
A Gregorian chant bellows forth
With one clear word I’ve heard before

“Freefall,” they sing

Faces calm, their eyes are closed
But they step forward slow
I’m pushed ahead in line
As a shiver rolls down my spine

Souls toss themselves willingly
To sow the seeds of dead trees
With branches ripped off in self harm
A rejection of their real arm
Is this it?
Is this where I belong?

I’ve never seen something so still
A person with a drive to kill
I don’t belong in this line
