Tape Zero

Vegas

Ya’ll want me to talk about Will? Ight bet.

What up ya’ll. It’s Vegas also known as Steve to my family and friends.

Where do we start?

Back in the days in the 80s, early 90s…especially the 80s.

You know I’m from Brooklyn, New York. Bedford Stuyvesant.

And um, my Aunt Versie is from Queensbridge.

I remember like every weekend me and my little sister would loved going to my Aunt’s house in Queensbridge.

Mainly because it was like the fun house on the weekends.

After a full week of school you get this treat to go there.

My Aunt would cook all of the food you like. Buy all of the junk food you like.

All of that kind of stuff. Occasionally take us places. You know what I saying.

And I remember it was just a fun place to be.

Me and Will would sit down and watch Kung fu flicks on Saturday mornings/Sunday afternoons. Whatever it may be.

We’d watch the rap videos.

I remember when Big Daddy Kane’s “Ain’t No Half-Steppin” came out.

And I remember we used to be thirsty for that video to come on the TV.

We be looking for Kane in that grey suit with his hands on his hips.

With the four finger rings and the chain and be like, “oh there it go!”

You know what I’m saying. We loved that song.

We loved talking about hip-hop and all of that. You know what I’m saying?
