Sometimes at night
The motorbikes outside my window
Sound like screams
And tear me from dreams
So fast I gasp for air
Like actors from nightmares
In bad movies

And I want to pull you to me
Feel your heart beat slow
Act like I know
Those beasts that creep in shadow
Are tricks of sight
A flickered streetlight
Or full beam left on
But you’re gone

And tonight it would seem
Sleep is just a dream

Sometimes at night
Blurred lights
Mean sleepy eyes won’t focus
And I don’t have to notice
You on every street
A steady beat
My feet on stone
A current flows to here from home
