Mindful

Zombie Juice

[Chorus]
Try to be mindful, ‘cause what you say powerful
G-g-gotta be mindful, yeah, yeah
I try to be mindful, ‘cause what you think powerful Yeah, yeah
Just gotta be mindful

[Verse 1]
I ain't got it all figured out, but sometimes
In these rhymes I remind myself
Allow myself, to find my wealth
I said, yeah, I said, yeah
I said it's all good, 'til it happen to you
It's all jokes 'til it happen to your mother or sister
These hard times only make you stronger, yeah
Remember all those lessons that they tried to taught you
No need to fight what's dеstined, no need to fight what's destined
If you prеss fast forward you gon' miss all the lessons
And what’s a king if you can’t teach the next in
This [?] got me higher than the Jetsons
I'm in my feelings, I don't need your suggestions
I treat others like I wanna be treated
But everybody ain’t you, sometimes you gotta just see it, just see it
Believe it, believe it, uh
Some say I'm pretty inspirational, yeah
They say my vibes is unexplainable, hey
I'm livin’ proof if I could do it, you could do it too, all pullin through, yeah
We pullin through, yeah
Sometimes I won't eat so I can see how it feel
Gotta keep the hunger in so you know that it’s real
Tryna tell my younger self that we gon' make it, we built
Thinking back, we was broke then
Stayed in the shelter we was ghostin'
Cut abusive ties, family made the most of…
I love ‘em like I love myself
From the inside out, gotta retain the wealth (obtain it, uh)
I used to wish it was a dream, in fact
My momma gone, but never really gone cause our souls attached
My grandma never used to tell me much of that
Probably cause they bumped heads like, li-li-like
A pastor tryna raise four kids
Why my grandpa think [?]
I can hear him now sayin’ “best I do or die”
Air Forces with the Yankee cap, uh-huh

[Chorus]
I try to be mindful, ‘cause what you say powerful
Just gotta be mindful, yeah
I try to be mindful, ‘cause what you think powerful Yeah, yeah
Just gotta be mindful

[Verse 2]
Do you remember how you used to look me in my eyes?
Gave you that rose quartz, just tryna keep the peace inside
But now it’s like, you won’t even see me for [?] everything I did wrong
Instead of seeing how I changed inside
I spent 365 days around the sun and still no sign
Our connections dim
I used to be everything you wanted now I’m everything you hatin’ man, yeah
I don’t understand the state I’m in, but I’ll take accountability
This life is filled with empty promises, I’m tryna maintain stability
I got a big heart, forgive and I got to
Can’t hold on to that hate, it’s too harmful
I got a big heart, forgive and I got to
Don’t hold on to that hate, that shit get harmful

[Chorus]
I try to be mindful, ‘cause what you say powerful
Just gotta be mindful, yeah
I try to be mindful, ‘cause what you think powerful Yeah, yeah
Just gotta be mindful

[Outro: Juice’s Grandma & Zombie Juice]
Everybody loved your mom. Princess was New York, but she was stubborn. Just like you. You gon’ do what you wanna do. She used to bring girls off the street, to the house, and- “Momma tell ‘em they ain’t have no business out here in the street”. She out there preaching! But you was doin’ the same thing. And you tellin’ ‘em they shouldn’t be doin’ it
Sounds like me
Yup! Princess was just like you. She lived 6 months after you were born, um, at the, um, hospital. 8 o’clock at night, sitting out, they called it a cellarium, they had these chairs out there, and there was one that swings, and she came and she said “mommy hold me”. And, if, if I could find those people that were sitting out there, they would tell you. She said “sing to me like you used to do for when we was little”, ‘cause I always sing to my children. And I put her in my arms, she sat in my lap in my arms, and I swang her out there on that porch, singin’ to her a lullaby. She went in her room, and during the night she passed away. They called me the next mornin’, she had passed. They wanted to put you in a program, and I said “no”. To-to see if you had anything in your system. Yeah, whatever it was. They wanted to test you, to see if you had it, and I said “no”
Was that her, uh, vice of choice?
Oh yeah, she and [?] used to hang out. She had no father. If I was just taking care of you as a homeless child, they could come and take you anytime. But if I adopt you, then I’m your mother, and nobody would ever come to take you away. And that’s where the adoption came in. So then they ran it that way. When they got ready to, for my adopting you, we had to go down, I had to go back and forth with the court with that too. We get down to the court, the jury said if, uh, somebody don’t show up, then you have to go back into the system. But God is so good. Because after we went down there, the judge had the last case, another case in front of me, he said after this case, if the people don’t show up, you would have to go into the system. The man that was working with Princess in the beginning, with social services, he saw the folder on the table about what was goin’ on. He came down to the courthouse. That was God intervention. And he came down to the courthouse, and he explained to the church, and he had it in writing, that Princess said she want her mother to take care of her son. And that’s how I got you
