TURN IT OFF M

Graham Bell

Turn It Off

Turn it off I don’t wanna see the television
Everybody desperate for recognition
I need to get some air if I can find the door
Enough of talking heads who think they know the score
I can’t take any more

I don’t need to hear what’s on the radio
Doesn’t tell me anything that I didn’t know
Where can I find somebody who’s got something to say
Nothing to keep me here so I’ll be on my way
I guess I’ll call it a day

Its just the way of the world there’s no use pretending
You better look elsewhere if what you need
is a happy ending

Put away your ego don’t expect me to feed it
Bullshit comes by the bucketload and I don’t need it
Stuff they put in the papers makes you want to cry
They call it news but it doesn’t come as any surprise
Wars, sport and lies

Shiny people in the glossy magazines
Showing off their money to the lesser beings
For them celebrity status is the rainbow’s end
When you’ve got money everybody wants to be your friend
So they just pretend

Life looks so easy at the top of the tree
Inside they’re running scared the same as you
And the same as me

When you see the world in such a sad condition
Why would you give your power to the politicians
They have no understanding of the common man
They guard their power and privilege with an iron hand
When will you take a stand?
