The Hare And The Tortoise

Not in your time,
not in mine,
it was the time when the animals were
able to talk like humans.
The dense forests of Africa
overflowed with the population of hares and tortoises.
The hares considered themselves to be fastest
and the brilliant among all.
And, they were mischievous and troublesome.
One day,
Oh, King! We’re unable to tolerate the hares, anymore!
They’re always the trouble-makers.
We cannot co-exist them.
You’ve to do something about this.
Or, we all shall leave the forest.
My fellows, it’s not that I can't understand,
but they are too fast and cunning than us.
We shall keep this in our prayers to our God of creations,
if nothing happens, we shall leave the forest.
As per their King’s decision,
the tortoises prayed to the God of creations,
and the God appeared in front of them.
Don’t worry children, do as I say.
Call in the King of the hares
for a running race with your King,
and the winner would be declared as the
best.
But, God,
I’ll be the judge, and there is nothing to worry.
Though the tortoises knew that they
might fail,
they obeyed the God,
and they took up the race.
In your dreams tortoise, in your dreams!
You can never win me!
said the hare King.
The race will start in a count of three. , ,
One
two
and three.
The hare King ran very fast
and left the tortoise king behind,
miles away.
Oh, this tortoise is never going to come anywhere near.
I better take a rest for a while.
Said the hare,
and went to take a quick nap under an apple tree.
The tortoise walked continuously
and crossed the hare who was sleeping.
And, sometime later,
Ouch!
God, I might be running out of time.
Hey, fatty! Thought winning me would be that easy?
*Laughs* *Laughs*
The hare ran very fast
that it didn’t notice the river ahead.
Help! Help! Somebody, help!
By that time, the tortoise who was an excellent swimmer
reached the river.
Don’t worry, hare king, I’m here to help!
The tortoise swam to the hare,
saved him, and swam out of the river.
The tortoise crossed the finish line, with the hare on his back.
And, there appeared the god of creations and healed the hare.
There is no one better, and there is no one greater.
If not was the tortoise,
you would have sunk in the river and died.
The hare realized his mistake
and felt sorry for the tortoise.
And, tortoise,
because of your helping heart,
your entire kind will have a larger life span from now.
And, that’s when tortoises got their longer life span,
as an appreciation for their kindness.
Kids, what have you learned from the
story?
Even when the hare King was
mischievous, and troublesome,
the tortoise King was kind enough to save his life.
And, the God blessed the entire tortoises,
with a longer life span.
So, Kids,
remember, God blesses those who are kind to others.
