my highs,

John Ricotta

Put a finger in the sky for my highs
Put two to the floor for my lows
Everybody think they know how I rise
But they don't know what they don't know

Lately I'm reaching peaks that I've been waiting for
All these successes are moments that you just can't ignore
They doubted me like the Braves but I ain't gon' rant again
Cause I was in the city living like a champion
So in the last year I did my first show
Linked up with the squad in Tampa we made all the crowd go
Crazy for the boy like I was lightning with my ice bro
They gave me a couple bucks feel like I won the super bowl
Put out My Climb a little after then
That became my biggest song song I'm thinking that my rapping wins
Started with the music but then I started to act again
I did auditions for three shows and you know I was cast in them
three shows in three months with no doubt
Before then the last show I was in the theatre sold out
That was the first paid gig I did bro
And every show I did after sold out again bro

Put a finger in the sky for my highs
Put two to the floor for my lows
Everybody think they know how I rise
But they don't know what they don't know
I put a finger in the sky for my highs
Put two to the floor for my lows
Everybody wanna know how I ride
All I gotta say is I just go

Let's take it back to when I started rapping
I was a youngin who's gunning with only bars and passion
Just making something and wanting some public eyes and traction
Thought I was ready for people to listen but they trashed it
Hey my first song wasn't great but no one's is
The difference is I released it and I was just a kid
People were mocking me constantly saying I should quit
It never got to me so I kept writing bit by bit
Over the years man it would fade
Gradual recognition started replacing hate
But still some people didn't know all of the songs I made
Then someone said I should perform in front of all the grades
I took the stage in front of five hundred people and rhymed
Confident but wondering if they'll like me this time
In the crowd I saw the guys who clowned me but surprise
Those exact same guys were clapping along to My Climb

Put a finger in the sky for my highs
Put two to the floor for my lows
Everybody think they know how I rise
But they don't know what they don't know
I put a finger in the sky for my highs
Put two to the floor for my lows
Everybody wanna know how I ride
All I gotta say is I just go

I used to feel like a loser when I was a junior but I knew my future was something cooler
I know the vision ambitious but don't get it twisted bro I got the skillset cause I am different
And if I'm totally honest I'm making a promise to always be locked in cause that's what God said
I know I'm destined for greatness so here is the latest I just been updating the art I'm making
I got two musicals I'm writing they gon win awards
That's my ego to a T that's what's I'm living for
I slowly work on music time ain't got me mortified
I aim to be above the clock I put in overtime
I'm not gon' stop until I make it
And Imma do the chorus when I do so here's the saying
Put two middle fingers down to the evil one who's hating
Then put a pointer to the sky to praise the one of greatness

Put a finger in the sky for my highs
Put two to the floor for my lows
Everybody think they know how I rise
But they don't know what they don't know
I put a finger in the sky for my highs
Put two to the floor for my lows
Everybody wanna know how I ride
All I gotta say is I just go
